Abstract
This paper explores the literature to identify the environmentals factors the trigger the student's feeling of alienation caused by acculturative stress, and discover the strategies, which instructors should use to remove these issues. Although the paper focuses primarily on Hispanic students, other racial and ethnic groups are investigated. The author concludes that acculturative stress is associated with the feeling of estrangement although it is not clear, which episodes within the classroom environments provoke such feelings. The paper also stresses the need for such research and suggests a methodology.

Quantitative Research, 2008.
A discussion on the methods and interpretation of quantitative research.
863 words (approx. 3.5 pages), 3 sources, APA, $ 30.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
The paper discusses quantitative research which focuses on quantifiable data and conclusions. The paper states that quantitative research lends itself particularly well to the natural sciences and numerical disciplines, as exact measurements are required for these. They in turn provide research facts via an explanation of the statistical truth. The paper confirms that the researcher's value judgments are not to be imposed upon the conclusions drawn from the data, as the researcher is viewed as an objective observer. The paper concludes that whilst most appropriate for natural scientific research, the quantitative research has also increasingly been used in social sciences in order to draw logical conclusions from existing facts.

From the Paper
"Being a social science, education has generally been studied by qualitative methods. The reason for this is that human beings are not an exact science, and facts have to be derived by an inductive rather than deductive approach. Best practice could therefore best be determined by making value judgments rather than drawing quantitative conclusions. It has however been recognized that the social sciences can also be studied from an objective rather than subjective viewpoint. According to Hara, quantitative research can be used in education in order to discover existing facts by means of isolating human reality from the researcher's subjectivity. The data obtained in this way can then be presented in a numerical, objective way, in order to derive universally applicable conclusions. The value of such research is that it exists independently from values such as time, place and culture. Hence the conclusions can be applied to any educational setting. "

Abstract
This paper presents a research proposal to study gender and postural changes and their effects on spontaneous otoacoustic emissions. To explore this subject one must first understand what spontaneous otoacoustic emissions (SOAEs) are, what role gender has on SOAEs and what the implications are of such roles and studies. Further, the paper explains that this research will provide information on the role posture has related to SOAEs and its implications. To achieve this the researcher asks the following questions: (1) what are SOAEs and what role does gender have on SOAEs (2) what role does posture have on SOAEs and (3) what implications do these findings provide? .

Table of Contents:
Introduction
Background
Discussion and Conclusions

From the Paper
"Bilger, Matthies & Hammel (1990) conducted an earlier study of spontaneous otoacoustic emissions to better understand and delineate their effects or purpose. Using information and data gathered from three studies conducted in the early to mid 1980s, the researchers discovered female subjects experienced a much greater prevalence of SOAEs than males (P(S|F) = .533 females). The researchers also noted evidence from previous studies suggested regardless of gender SOAEs were more prevalent in participants right ears than in the left ears."

Abstract
This paper discusses how increasing the strength and improving the behavior of timber structures during periods of seismic stress is a worldwide concern and how structural collapse is one of the most frequent causes of death during an earthquake. It proposes a study to examines the hypothesis that timber bonded to CFRP will withstand the stresses of horizontal displacement longer than timber alone, or CFRP alone. It also explores new techniques of bonding CFRP to timber in order to produce a structure that can withstand horizontal and frequency displacement by earthquakes. The ultimate goal of the proposed study is to improve design to withstand seismic activity and minimize deaths in earthquake prone regions.

Outline:
Theoretical Background
Hypothesis
Methodology

From the Paper
"An earthquake is defined in terms of the degree of horizontal displacement and the frequency of this displacement. Song & associates (2002) used finite element analysis to test failure parameters of various types of reinforced concrete shell structures. They used a layered shell element with a pressure node. The layered shell element used by them can be adapted to simulate the laminated bond of CFRP to the timber substrate. The parameters of this technique will be adapted to reflect the materials being tested. This finite element analysis technique will be subjected to the seismic stress factors discovered in Ciccoti & Associates (2006) in order to determine the amount of seismic strain that the three constructed models can withstand. Abstract
This research paper develops an appropriate econometric model whereby the primary determinants of profitability of the top five bank holding companies in the United States could be examined and understood. To accomplish this purpose, an econometric model based on internal aspects of the banking organizations as they related to their return on assets and external aspects of the environment in which they compete as measured by growth in GDP was developed based on guidance provided by economists and industry experts to determine the impact of the external national economy of these five leading banks according to their size as measured by total assets. A critical review of the relevant peer-reviewed, scholarly and organizational literature is followed by an analysis of the statistical data for these bank holding companies using the econometric model. A summary of the research and salient conclusions are provided in the concluding chapter. The paper includes several graphs, tables, and charts.

Abstract
This paper explains that, although early mover advantage is often seen as the preferred method of market entry, in e-commerce, late movers can outperform and gain a higher level of trust with customers, by synchronizing all relevant systems through the use of the late mover process framework defined in this dissertation. This research is based on seven major hypotheses relating to a late mover e-commerce strategy. The author describes a multi-phased approach to the research design, based on qualitative research completed through the case study method in addition to the use of statistical analysis on a late mover company's relevant data in terms of transaction volumes and velocities of order management systems specifically.
